ExxonMobil reportedly will stop supplying orthoxylene from its Chalmette chemical facility in Louisiana by year's end. The firm is preparing to shut down one of two paraxylene units and an isomerization unit at the plant. The move was prompted by poor orthoxylene demand caused by declining phthalic anhydride production, a source said.
