The FAA announced Wednesday that airlines have until January to replace many of the airspeed indicators found on Airbus A330s and A340s. The safety agency wants airlines to switch to equipment manufactured by Goodrich Corp. to avoid any possible malfunction of Thales-made indicators, which became a focus in the investigation of the crash of Air France Flight 447. Among U.S. carriers, only US Airways and Delta Air Lines' Northwest unit fly A330s, and many of their indicators already have been replaced.
