More property owners are adding green features to their buildings as part of an effort to attract tenants, cut operating costs and qualify for tax breaks. In Atlanta, for example, the owners of the Westin Peachtree Hotel are replacing damaged windows with thicker, tinted ones that provide better insulation. Green buildings will represent up to 25% of new commercial and institutional construction starts by 2013, almost double that of today, McGraw-Hill Construction says.
