The consequences of unemployment in the U.S. can't be measured solely in money, an academic study concluded. The challenge of coping with financial problems and simultaneously conducting a job hunt leaves many Americans traumatized, said researchers at the John J. Heldrich Center for Workforce Development at Rutgers University. "Psychologically, it's a world of hurt out there for the jobless," said Cliff Zukin, a co-author of the study.
