The use of nuclear energy in the U.S. must grow over the next few decades to meet increasing power demand and significantly curb greenhouse-gas emissions linked to climate change, writes Nuclear Energy Institute President and CEO Marvin Fertel in this opinion article. Several studies find that while no technology can single-handedly slow or reverse carbon emissions, nuclear power is a necessary component of a comprehensive strategy being recommended in pending congressional energy and climate measures, Fertel writes.
