New technology dubbed Poraver has allowed Atlas Block to create a lightweight concrete block. Poraver crushes post-consumer glass and transforms it into light pellets. The pellets expand into a fine-pored granulate, and the result is a chemically stable block not affected by moisture. "I think we've broken a barrier. You no longer have to make a block with sand, limestone and cement. This proves there are alternatives," Atlas Block President Don Gordon said.
