The police chief at Raleigh-Durham International Airport doesn't believe there are "any sort of gangs out here trying to steal bags," despite a rash of reported thefts from the baggage-claim carousels since mid-August. "We are taking it very seriously," says Donna Waters, who relies on random checks, dummy bags and undercover officers to monitor the airport's three bag-claim areas. An airport spokeswoman says RDU is "looking into purchasing" security cameras to help cut down on losses.
