Teachers might one day receive professional-development credit for time they spend interacting with their peers on social-networking Web sites, says one education consultant. Instead of using sites like Facebook, teachers would be credited for logging onto sites like The English Companion Ning. The Web site dedicated to teaching English allows educators to network with other teachers, ask questions and share ideas -- a practice some say is just as valuable as participating in a traditional training course.
