Some 3,300 students in central Texas will be using digital whiteboards in their classrooms this year after the region was awarded $1 million in federal stimulus funds to purchase the high-tech devices. The boards, which cost about $5,000 each -- not including software and supplemental equipment -- were tested in some of the districts last year and found to be especially helpful with elementary-school English-language learners studying math.
