Connecticut's New Haven Teachers Federation union has reached a tentative agreement with the city to approve a reform-minded contract beginning in the 2010-11 school year. The contract will be put to a full membership vote Tuesday. The proposed contract gives the school district the ability to evaluate teachers according to yet-undefined metrics of student performance. It also gives individual schools more freedom to propose changes and provides for a peer-mentoring program for struggling teachers.
