A federal jury found that Eaton Corp. violated antitrust laws in marketing truck transmissions, and the company may have to pay damages of more than $800 million. Eaton negotiated exclusive contracts with truck manufacturers and offered generous rebates on its transmissions, according to the plaintiff's attorney. However, the plaintiff "didn't have the technical superiority" to make inroads in the market, according to Eaton lawyer Robert Ruyak. Eaton expects to appeal the ruling.
