At a meeting in Gothenburg, Sweden, European Central Bank President Jean-Claude Trichet and finance ministers from across the euro zone discussed withdrawing from fiscal stimulus. "It is important in our view that it starts as soon as the recovery starts," Trichet said. "In our own view, at the latest in 2011." Uncertainty about the economic recovery has made officials reluctant to set a concrete date for exiting stimulus efforts.
