Dr. Margaret Hamburg, commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration, told a Senate committee Thursday that the Senate bill to overhaul food safety does not go far enough. The FDA will need easy access to records for routine inspections as well as more funding, which should come from food company registration fees, she said. The industry has accepted the more stringent requirements, and GMA's Scott Faber hopes to get more information on how the funding would be spent.
