Inclusion classrooms are the norm at The Grace School in Providence, R.I., where kindergarten through third-grade students of all abilities are taught together for math, reading, art, music and physical education. Educators at the school say the children with special needs foster close friendships with their peers without disabilities, who in return learn compassion and tolerance in smaller class settings. The school, which goes through eighth grade, plans to be fully integrated by 2015.
