Louisiana-based Albemarle announced on Tuesday it will contribute $80 million to build a catalyst facility in the Arabian Gulf. The joint venture with Ibn Hayyan Plastic, part of Saudi Basic Industries, is not expected to significantly increase Albemarle's global production of tri-ethyl aluminum, but it will add 6,000 metric tons annually to a region where chemical infrastructure is on the rise.
