Inter-island carriers go! and Mokulele will combine in a joint venture that will create Hawaii's second-largest carrier. Mesa Air Group, the parent company of go!, will own 75% of the new venture, while Mokulele shareholders will get 25%. No layoffs were mentioned in the announcement, though Republic Airways, Mokulele's parent company, said it will move its largest jets to mainland routes, substituting smaller planes in Hawaii. "The agreement will allow us to continue offering a low-fare schedule, one that is appropriate to the level of demand in the market today," said Mokulele CEO Scott Durgin.
