Although the methylmercury found in fish has been linked to high blood pressure, researchers say people should continue to eat fish because of the benefits of omega-3 fatty acids. The FDA however, suggests that pregnant and nursing women as well as children lessen their fish intake because methylmercury could prevent the normal development of the brain and nervous system in fetuses and newborns.
