Educators at Sam Placentino Elementary School in Holliston, Mass., have found their alternative curriculum tracks -- French immersion and Montessori programs -- to be popular with parents, although the programs may not initially prepare students for state standardized tests. The programs have waiting lists, even though parents are cautioned by school officials that children in the programs do not perform as well as peers on state tests until middle school.
