Researchers at the University of Nebraska Medical Center said they have created embryoniclike stem cells by exposing adult cornea cells to particular proteins and to elements produced by embryonic stem cells. The method does not use genetic material and is therefore not harmful to the cells, a researcher said. There is, however, a need to conduct more studies on the elements excreted by embryonic stem cells to gain more understanding of their composition, the researcher also said.
