Over the next two years, schools in Texas' Mesquite district will receive more than $13 million in federal stimulus funds targeted toward students with special needs and schools with a high percentage of poor students. About 40% of the money will be spent on technology and will pay for tools such as interactive whiteboards, on which students can write and move words with an electronic pen. "This is fabulous," said one elementary-school teacher of her whiteboard. "It reaches so many different learning styles. I wish I'd had this a long time ago."
