Students are learning how to be be peer mediators and diffuse disagreements before they get out of hand from the Conflict Resolution Unlimited Institute in Bellevue, Wash. "Kids can tell when you are trying to fix them," says Nancy Kaplan, who runs the institute. "But when you say to these kids, 'We want you to take responsibility for other people's conflicts,' they feel empowered."
