About one in three display dollars on YouTube is spent on ads accompanying pirated clips of TV shows, music videos and other copyrighted material that fans upload. The Google unit, since last year, has shared revenue from those display ads with the copyright holders. According to this article, that revenue stream could increase, via YouTube's new access deals with three companies that specialize in digitizing video and audio clips so that they can be screened on broadcast TV, cable, the Web and mobile phone.
