The American Chemistry Council is asking lawmakers to make sure climate-change legislation ensures that chemical companies can compete globally and recognizes they are more energy intensive than other industries. Home insulation and lightweight plastic car components are examples of products the chemical industry is contributing to energy efficiency, says ACC President Cal Dooley. "We can only be at the forefront ... if we are competitive internationally," he says.
