Alaska should step up efforts to address the economic risks associated with Denali's project to build a natural gas pipeline in the state, said Bud Fackrell, president of Denali. The venture, a joint effort of BP and ConocoPhillips, is aimed at transporting natural gas from the North Slope to U.S. markets. Fackrell added that the state needs to work on questions about long-term tax rates and contested leases at the Point Thomson field, among other issues.
