AT&T will offer enterprises a scalable cloud-computing service, the company announced today, saying it is partnering with Sun Microsystems and VMware to offer a server-based platform so businesses can access their data without investing heavily in hardware. AT&T's Synaptic Compute as a Service works with VMware's virtualization platform and Sun's computing power that, like most other cloud-based services, allows customers to use -- and pay for -- only as much capacity as they need.
