American Chemistry Council chief Cal Dooley said progress still can be made in establishing a framework for a climate-change agreement, as he responded to a Politico request for feedback on the news that no deal is imminent for the international climate conference in Copenhagen. "For the chemical industry, which is both energy-intensive and globally competitive, it's especially important that any agreement gain widespread participation, that it not distort markets or U.S. competitiveness, and that it actually reduces emissions," Dooley wrote.
