A two-year, $2.6 million research project on teacher quality is close to reaching its goal of enrolling 100 New York City schools, most of them high schools. Supported by the New York City Department of Education and the United Federation of Teachers, the Measures of Effective Teaching study will look at ways to determine teacher quality aside from student test scores. The study is being paid for by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and will use video, surveys and test scores to measure effectiveness.
