GE Hitachi said it is holding discussions with U.K. utilities to construct nuclear facilities and expects one or two of its ESBWR reactors to go online in the country by 2025. The company would be competing against reactors from France's Areva as well as Westinghouse, Toshiba's nuclear unit in the U.S. GE Hitachi halted its efforts at U.K. certification for its ESBWR design to prioritize U.S. approval and is now seeking reappraisal from British nuclear regulators.
