Just in time for the Thanksgiving travel surge, Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport has instituted random checks of passengers claiming their checked bags from luggage carousels. "They asked to see our baggage claim checks and they compared numbers to them and made sure they were indeed ours," said one arriving passenger, who thought the checks were a good idea. For departing passengers, the airport has opened seven additional security lanes to reduce delays, with pre-holiday traffic expected to be 40% higher than a typical Wednesday.
