Not enough attention is given to what terms such as "sustainability" and "corporate social responsibility" actually mean, Roberto Piccioni writes. Too often companies focus on isolated behaviors or actions, according to Peter Senge, director of the Center for Organizational Learning at the MIT Sloan School of Management. Instead, companies need to take a fresh look at the natural and man-made systems upon which a business depends and consider their role globally, Senge argues.
