The U.S. welcomes China's plan to cut its emissions per unit of industrial output, White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said, adding that the international community would closely monitor progress by the globe's leading greenhouse-gas emitter. The move comes after the U.S. declared a carbon-reduction goal earlier last week. The U.S. would also proceed to "engage constructively" with China on the matter ahead of the climate change summit in Denmark, Gibbs said.
