Qualcomm's chip business recovered somewhat in the fiscal fourth quarter, growing 9% from the previous period, the company reported Wednesday as profits fell because of onetime charges. "We hit our numbers pretty well," said CEO Paul Jacobs. Qualcomm investors were cheered by the chip maker's 15-year extension of its patent-royalty agreement with Samsung in which the phone maker will deliver a $1.3 billion down payment, Samsung said.
