Sixteen years after it was first passed, the Family and Medical Leave Act may soon be applied to airline flight attendants, who have been excluded until now because they do not work traditional 40-hour workweeks. The Senate on Tuesday passed a measure clarifying that the law should apply to airline crews, making them eligible for 12 weeks of unpaid leave to care for a newborn child or ailing family member.
