Therapists and teachers in Texas are using a new rail-and-harness system to help students with severe physical disabilities feel what it is like to stand independently. The $68,000 system supports the students -- who are used to being restricted to wheelchairs -- so that they can move and explore using their own weight. "When they're upright, their neurological system, including their senses of vision and hearing, [is] much more organized," a therapist said.
