A pair of companies, half a world apart, have announced plans separately to introduce a digital set-top box this week to provide video services that feature Internet-based content. U.S.-based Sezmi will begin tests today in Los Angeles on a "personal TV service" that offers the usual TV programming, on-demand video, a DVR service and Web-based video. The Australian telecom Telstra will begin trials Thursday of its "T-box" equipment that allows viewers to watch Internet-based movies and other IPTV-based content.
