Designed by LMN Architects, the Vancouver Convention Center features the largest non-industrial green roof in North America. The design mimics a gulf island beachfront and includes more than 400,000 indigenous plants. It also doubles as an insulator with engineered layers that reduce heat gain in the building in the summer and heat loss in the winter. The building was designed with LEED Gold in mind and also features on-site water treatment and conservation.
