ASDA is planning to tap into the buying power of its US owner, Wal-Mart, to gain a competitive edge over Tesco and other rivals. "We want [to share] a lot more product with Wal-Mart, particularly in nonfood. We will be moving towards that quite aggressively," said ASDA CEO Andy Bond. The move will allow ASDA to reduce prices on its nonfood products. ASDA and its rivals have been expanding their offerings of nonfood products.
