Major online travel booking sites including Expedia, Hotels.com, Orbitz and Travelocity have filed suit against New York City in an effort to block a law enacted in June to extend the city's hotel room tax to third-party intermediaries. The law was passed in an effort to address a budget shortfall in New York, but the groups, which also include the American Society of Travel Agents and the U.S. Tour Operators Association, call the law unconstitutional.
