The goal of HITECH is to enable data-sharing and access among the different providers to improve patient care, and the "EMR itself is simply a means towards that," said Al Campanella, CIO of Marlton, N.J.-based Virtua Health. In this interview, Campanella also said that the biggest challenge in complying with HITECH is "overcoming physician concerns about their work flow and productivity." He explained that doctors are not against the concept of EMRs, "they just don't want to use an EMR to make less money."
