Some computer programs now offer features to help a growing number of English-language learners better understand subject material. In one Georgia school -- where 98% of students are English-language learners -- an 18-month pilot program of dual-language reading software resulted in a 43% increase in state test scores. New programs are also helping ELL students understand math concept by "ensuring that students have the language needed to understand instruction," said one education professor and software developer.
