The Architecture Billings Index, a measure of the demand for design projects, dropped more than 3 points in November, according to the American Institute of Architects. The index is an early indicator of construction trends, with a nine- to 12-month lag time between design and construction spending. "There continues to be a lot of uncertainty in the construction industry that likely will delay new projects in the near future," said AIA economist Kermit Baker.
