Disability advocates say demand for respite care to help caregivers of children with special needs is growing while funding for programs is being cut. Officials in Alabama have formed the Alabama Lifespan Respite Resource Network to help families locate respite services in their area. "If the caregiver is not strong and not cared for, then how can they give care to their loved one," the group's program manager said.
