Guy Quaden, a member of the European Central Bank's Governing Council, said low interest rates are "appropriate." "There is absolutely no need to start the tightening cycle given the low inflationary pressures," said Quaden, who is also governor of Belgium's central bank. He also warned that eurozone growth could be hindered by a further strengthening of the euro to the U.S. dollar.
