The Energy Department has commissioned construction of a "net-zero" energy building -- one it's billing as likely the world's largest. The $64 million, 220,000-square-foot complex in Colorado will be part of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory and will serve as a prime example of green building construction. "Our hope is that it really starts to change the direction of society and the way we think of buildings," said Byron Haselden, president of Haselden Construction, the general contractor.
