The Environmental Protection Agency's recent carbon endangerment finding could boost carbon trading as the agency moves toward regulating businesses that release such gases. Even in the absence of a federal program, a carbon-trading market could provide a "huge opportunity," one analyst said. The only obstacle to the formation of a private carbon-trading program in the U.S. is the lack of commercially viable technology, the analyst added.
