The ethanol industry is hoping for a positive outcome from the Environmental Protection Agency on the proposal to lift the 10% "blend wall" on the alternative fuel. If the agency denies the petition, the industry could seek other options to remove the blend limit. Matt Hartwig of the Renewable Fuels Association says the EPA could grant the proposal, allow a 12% blend limit as an intermediate step or adopt a partial waiver where the 15% ethanol blend would be allowed for certain engine types.
