Regulators, airports and airlines need to work proactively to gather detailed information to identify airfield risks, according to Federal Aviation Administration Administrator Randy Babbitt. Babbitt said the fact that U.S. airports saw a 50% reduction in serious runway incursions over a year was encouraging, and he called for a "shift away from the forensic investigation of what happened and instead start chipping away at the precursors."
