Robert Lundquist, a Florida high school principal, wants to replace his school's athletic field with artificial turf to combat the constant wear and tear it receives from various school activities. Lundquist says the recession has forced turf makers to slash prices on their products, making an artificial surface more affordable than it was three years ago when he first considered the idea. He says the turf will cut maintenance costs and water use.
