Frontier Airlines has joined United Airlines in acknowledging that it may buy narrow-body jets from Canada's Bombardier as it seeks to modernize its fleet. Hal Cooper, CFO of parent company Republic Airways, called the C-Series jet "a very interesting airplane" due to Bombardier's claims of lower costs, reduced fuel burn and greater passenger comfort. "Very attractive export financing" is another advantage, he noted. With many leases on its Airbus A320 jets expiring between 2013 and 2017, Republic could announce a replacement aircraft early next year.
