A technology company in Indiana has received a $150,000 National Science Foundation grant to fund the development of software that makes scientific data more accessible for students with visual impairments. Independence Science is working on a program that adds text-to-speech audio to a portable scientific-data device called LabQuest. Students at the Indiana School for the Blind and Visually Impaired will be among the first to test the software when it becomes available.
